Pain and Healing

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.Your pain is not less wondrous than your joy. Accept the seasons of your heart as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields. Watch with serenity through the winter of your grief

Soul Mate

According to this I found him already.

“A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mate’s purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, and make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life.” ~Elizabeth Gilbert

What J.K Rowling has Done for Me.

If I ever met J.K Rowling I would probably cry and thank her for all she has done for me.
But what has she done for me you ask?

Well.

I was never interested in Harry Potter, I loved reading but I was convinced that Harry Potter was a "dorky nerd" in my 4th grade language. My mom continued to try to get me to read it then one day i picked up Sorcerer's Stone and I could NOT put it down. After that i immediately picked up Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire. At this point there was a lull in the books. I saw the movie and highly anticipated the release of the fifth book.

It was around this time that my mom got sick. And it all happened so fast. She went into the hospital for a long time, but then she got out and i thought things would be fine. Order of the Phoenix had released the day before so we went to get it. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse and she had to go back in. She passed away July 1st and i was left with nothing.

Nothing but Harry Potter. I dove headfirst into Harry's story. It was a journey, an escape from my awful reality. I quickly finished the book and then re-read it immediately after. At a time when I thought my life would end and i had nothing left I was graced with a remarkable story of love, courage, and friendship amongst a world where darkness and hate was beginning to take over. Each year since I have faithfully followed Harry through his journey until the very end, because he was there for me at the lowest point in my life.

Now we come to the beginning of the end. The release of Deathly Hallows Part one in theaters. I OF COURSE have a midnight ticket to the showing and it is sad to see it end but it was an amazing journey to go on.

So thank you J.K Rowling for all you have done to me. Pulling me out of a sorrow that was sure to drown me, that i was sure i would never make it out of.

To Harry Potter. The Boy Who Lived.

Friendship Relationship Rules

I spend a great many hours in the library considering I work here. And sometimes I'm walking through the stacks..pulling call slips and what not and i began to think about the steps and measures i take in order to insure that I am not over stepping any boundaries when it comes to my friend's relationships and significant others. I came up with a list of precautions that can be taken to guarantee you continue to have a long fulfilling friendship.

1. You should not have your friend's significant others' phone number.
--- There is nothing you really need to be texting your friend's man/girl about. If you have a question for he/she you should go through your friend. Texting may be misconstrued (or correctly depending on the kind of person you are) for trying to be sneaky. Also facebook chatting and skyping are not very appropriate either. Excessive tweeting may be questionable as well. Just don't do it.

2. DO NOT give relationship advice!
---Please refrain from dishing out advice for your friend's relationship. I have noticed (as well as experienced first hand) the repercussions from doing so. The male/female begins to start liking you and then shyt gets real awkward, friendships deteriorate smh....

3. Nicknames.
---Nicknames are ok as long as they're not cutesy little ones. For example i called my friend's boyfriend LaKeKe. That is a little on the "ghetto" side rather than cute. Just be careful you friend may not be happy about you having a nickname for their significant other.

4. Greetings
---A Quick waddup, high five, pound, hand wave, church hug is appropriate. Don't get overly excited to see your friend's significant other.

5. Don't Date Him Girl
---Your friend's done with him. OK that don't mean he's for you.

Be careful out here everyone! There's Snakes in the Grass.

I Don't Care About Expensive Things, Cashmere Coats, Diamond Rings...Don't Mean A Thing...All I Care About is Love

I know that there's tons of people in the world that go into fields of study or different industries because that's where the money is. But I really don't care about money. And some people don't believe me. I think money is good to have....and when I grow up I want to be well off but i would prefer not to be rich. Or win a million dollars in the lottery because I KNOW for a fact that money will change me. And i like the person i am currently. I just want to be a high school guidance counselor and encourage people to further themselves in all aspects of life. And i want a loving caring understanding man by my side.

P.S Deadest Halloween ever.

P.P.S I was an hour late for work because my phone set itself back for daylight savings time...apparently it did this too early so i got in at 11 when i was supposed to be in at 10.

Or maybe i'm in a time warp. Whatever.

Phenomenal Woman: That's Me

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing of my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

20 Ways to Get Good Karma

I am not Buddhist or anything but MAN i've had some instances that semi show me that Karma is real! So I try to do right and get my Karma points up! This is from the Dalai Lama himself...

  1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
  3. Follow the three R’s:
  4. -  Respect for self,
  5. -  Respect for others and
  6. -  Responsibility for all your actions.
  7. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
  8. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
  9. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.
  10. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  11. Spend some time alone every day.
  12. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
  13. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  14. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and
  15. think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  16. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
  17. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
  18. Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.
  19. Be gentle with the earth.
  20. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
  21. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  22. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
  23. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
  24. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Who Said You Have To Make Lemonade When Life Gives You Lemons?

I am IN LOVE with this song.

I'm going to speak on this song for a bit here. Women we are NOT stupid creatures. We have big hearts and the capability to love, and love HARD! So if your man has cheated and you take him back don't listen to your friends, don't listen to your parents don't listen to anything except your OWN heart. You know your partner and only you know that they have the possibility to change. Do you trust that they can change? If you do shoot for the second chance. Everyone deserves a second chance. Love is not something you should so easily give up on, and if you are comfortable with easily throwing it away, you were never truly in love to begin with.

However, there is a point when you reach your BREAKING POINT. There is a moment of realization where you have been cheated on so many times or treated so wrongly that you will understand that you deserve better than you are getting, and see that no matter how much effort you are putting in, no matter how much love you give you DESERVE better. You would have given your significant other the WORLD....you would anything to make it work, you're confused you may consider even giving them another chance...but its time to move on. Love does not have limits, BUT when you are not being treated like you don't matter by someone you love its not fair.

Its ok to love someone. Its ok to give your heart to someone. Love should not be feared. Love does not cause pain, people cause pain. Love gives you an amazing feeling indescribably awesome feeling. But if you are not being treated the same way you are treating your significant other, you have to realize that not everyone deserves your love. You MUST discover the limit.

Can Love Strike The Same Place Twice? =)

What I Love About Her She Got So Much SOUL

Can you say Chi-City?
Come on Pronounce it with me chi-ci-ty. YEA.

Ok I love Chicago and everything its a great city but in todays redeye newspaper I read that there were 11 people shot and injured and 3 people killed this weekend alone AND 3 people were stabbed on the 95th red line stop.

See that's why I only go as far as Roosevelt on the Red Line.

But I legit have no ideas on how to stop the violence. Like I normally have wonderful ideas for problem solving solutions and stuff but it just gets worse and worse and alot of time it not even the intended target. WTH. These gang bangers need to take some classes like CGB 101 (Chicago Gang-Banging) cuz if they're going to kill each other off in all honesty that's alright with me but stop killing off people who have things going for them, that aren't banging, that are just outside enjoying the weather MY GOODNESS like I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago had like a Noah's Ark kind of thing happen because this city is getting ridiculous.

Its sad I have to be selective about where I want to do Community Service because im worried I'll end up not coming back home. Do Parents just not know where and what their children are doing? Are the youth being corrupted by other youth? Do We need to have some kind of programs in schools at young ages to catch them while we can? Marching in the streets and holding peace rallies just isn't effective we need action. But what can we do??

We Would Walk On The Beach In Our Bare Feet

I Love this song a special person reminded me of it :)

So I haven't posted in awhile I was experiencing so major writer's block, like what can I deliver to the readers I may have? Writer's block is going to have to find a new home this quarter because UGH i have a creative writing class and I can't afford to have a failure of imagination.

Countdown T-Minus 7 days until school it's been an ultra long summer I'm ready to get back, start this job and make $$, get involved and OF COURSE get my grades lookin NICEEEEE.

It is with great sadness that I write now about a very kind, never disrespectful woman who was always just full of life and happiness who took her life a couple days ago. I spent a year or so working with her about every night and news hit me really hard, cried for like an hour it was all bad. But this world is so full of BULLSHYT, you can live the most wholesome life be kindest and sweetest person to everyone and still be completely screwed over. Sometimes you wonder is it worth it to be kind when you're not going to receive the same treatment back? YES. Your actions should be done because you know they are the right thing to do and because you know you can touch a life in a positive way for alot of people.

This is to anyone reading, if you ever feel like life has gotten to be too much for you, that you can't go on please seek help. There are Sucide Hotlines that you can contact, think about your family your friends there's always at least one person who loves you in the world. Talk to a stranger, talk to a friend, and people don't tell your friends or family "later i'm busy", make time this could be the last chance you have to save a life.

And The Seasons, They Go Round and Round

This song is old but it's been in heavy rotation on my ipod this week.

SO! Good News: 16 days until school starts. Got a new boyfriend =) AND got a job in the library. Sayyy WHATT!1 #Winning

BUT alright. Lets talk about how BOGUS Rhianna is for trying to get Rebellious Flower tatted on her in French but putting "Rebelle Fleur" instead of "Fleur Rebelle". Adjective after noun in langue de francais. People please consult something other than Yahoo Babel Fish for your tattoo translations. SMH

So why are Chicago State Freshman getting ipads?? And why did they announce it at the Bud. Like people are about to start getting robbed. I'm just trying to make sure my DePaul lanyard is visible. That will scream "I have no money it goes towards this expensive education, please do not attempt to rob me. I DO NOT HAVE AN IPAD." But it just seems like those funds could be allocated towards something else, like having a computer is one of those "other" categories in your expected total for school. Or use one on campus. They could use a new dorm to be built. Since they only have one.

UGH about Rich East students getting laptops like I'm fine with this idea and all (all Walter Payton students had them too) but the district as a whole sucks. I need them to make moves that will benefit the entire district and no just one school.  But shouts out to Southland Charter College Prep High School that’s going to take students a long way. My cousin HAS to go there. He needs a chance at a quality education.

Next blog: On why only 47% of African American males are graduating and Religious intolerance and Burn the Qur'an Day.

STAY TUNED!!!

Love me, Love me, Say that You Love Me =)

What Happens To a Dream Deffered? Does It Dry Up, Like A Raisin In The Sun?

Happy Friday the 13th *Evil Laugh* MUUHHAAHHAHAHH.
Just Kidding.

Today's Revelation: I want to go to Bartending School soon as I turn 21.

In other news it was brought to my attention that these people who had this big huge house on the market for two years, refused to sell it to this African American couple because they "preferred not to". Kanye said even if you in a Benz you still a Nigha in a coupe. SMH.

ALSO im tired of hearing about Montana Fishbourne. At first granted I found it interesting and quite stupid that she chose to get famous through porn. Now I just think shes stupid and I DO NOT CARE that she was a prosti and this and that and ooo my life is so sad SHUT UP your dad is loaded, another classic case of rich girl actin out. If I chose to do porn it definitely wouldn't be for fame, it would be because I had sunk to an all time financial low and I had no one to turn to and I had to support myself and family. But because Kim Khardasian got famous from a sex tape Montana (why is she named after a state sounds like a boy name) thinks this will be her break out career. You ma'am are a dumb broad.

And Kim Khardasian is a dumb broad too I don't support her career or watch her show. And why was she on Teen Choice Awards?? And people wonder why everyone's pregnant look at these negative images that females in the media are creating. Gorgeous woman, career started through a sex tape. Someone please grab our young ladies by the hand and lead them.

Last I just want to say, not to offend no one that's grinding or whatever but if I hear about another HOOP dream or RAP career I swear I will throw a fit. Like I understand that maybe that's how some people want to make it out the hood or whatever, but the only way to do that is to get your education. And people be on some "i can't go to college we don't have the money" OK colleges and the government give the most money to those who are in the most desperate need. That's what the system is set up for. So get yo bum azz out the studio and go take some classes in something you're interested in, or want to help someone because riding on these hoop and rap careers is gonna leave you sitting on the bench.

I Just Hope You'll Miss Me A Little When I'm Gone

Lowkey this blog isn't really about anything. I don't have any major things to report.

Season Finale of Pretty Little Liars was tonight. Now I need to catch up on a week's worth of Degrassi and watch the foolish and pettiness that is the Bad Girl's Club.

Mayor Daley is considering closing the open admissions policy for City Colleges. With good reason, spending millions on remedial courses for people reading at the 8th grade level. QUESTION. HOW DID THEY EVEN GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL reading at the 8th grade level??! Smh

AT&T isn't letting customers have unlimited data service plans on Iphones and Ipads if you're a new customer anymore in an effort to declog networks in cities where data usage is highest. Oh well im still trying to be #TeamBlackberry anyway.

We're about to hit that point where people start going away to school and I'm here until September 5th. Stupid quarter system. I have yet another job interview on Monday for Library Circulation Desk Assistant. That's 63 apps: 2 interviews. Oh Yea. Im Winning. -__-

In semi exciting news I applied to be a SafeSite at DePaul. Part of the Great American Condom Campaign to promote sexual health if I am chosen I'll get a supply of 500 condoms to hand out throughout the year. DePaul finna kick me out... *knocks on wood*.

Um I think I learned the art of forgiveness. Wrote a 4 page letter that i'll never send. All positive. A wise person said that hating someone doesn't hurt that person, it just weighs down on you. So true. Plus no need to worry anymore. I'm happy, No male shall control how I feel. If you're not making me happy then you can *claps* *stomps* STEP.

P.S My hair is done. LONG HAIR DON'T CARE. Haha.
P.P.S Happy =)

Homosexuality vs. America & Religion

HELLO WORLD. Welcome to a special edition blog #1 in light of the repeal for Proposition 8 the same sex marriage ban that had been placed upon the state of California. It was repealed on August 4, 2010 because it was deemed unconstitutional, "a violation of federal constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process."
WELL DAMN. Glad they figured it out. Lets start with Kristin's opinion and work our way to fact.

Opinion: WHY DA HELL is everyone SO CONCERNED with what homosexual couples are doing? Whether they are allowed to get married or not these people are still going to be gay at the end of the day. Its who they are. And America, you my friend are denying a basic human right. Why can everyone else up and get married? You got dumb young couples getting married only to divorce in a couple years but you won't let someone whose had a lifelong partner tie the knot? WHO ARE YOU AMERICA?!!! No one's stopping your interracial marriage! That’s not seen favorable in too many eyes... No one's stripping you of all your rights because you had an affair on your husband or wife are they? But that’s wrong too I thought...
So now what’s the argument? That homosexuality is wrong? That’s it goes against the Bible?
PAUSE.
Since the founding of the United States of America it has been understood that there is a separation of church and state. SO again why aren't same sex couples allowed to marry? Because that’s not what "marriage is?" who came up with what marriage is again? Why must we have an ordained priest or pastor make marriages official? Because they're an oath taken in front of God correct? So did God say what "marriage is"? Logically that would conclude that marriage is a division of church...and therefore STATE shouldn't have a say in who you're allowed to marry.
Next apparently homosexuality is an abomination in the bible. Let’s see what else is.

Unclean things Lev. 7:21

Cheating (Mic. 6:10)

A forward Man (perverse; one who turns aside (Pro. 3:32; 11:20)

A proud look (Pro. 6:16-17)

A lying tongue (Pro. 6:17; 12:22)

Homosexuality (Lev. 18:22; 20:13, Dt. 23:18)

Wearing clothes of the opposite sex (Dt. 22:5)

Bringing the hire of a harlot or sodomite into God's house (Dt 23:18)

Re-marriage of former companions (Dt. 24:1-4)

Making images/idols (Dt. 27:15)

Adultery (Ezek. 18:6-13)

Violence (Ezek. 18:6-13)

Breaking Vows (Ezek. 18:6-13)

Injustice (Ezek. 18:6-13)

Things highly esteemed by man (Lk. 16:1)
Leviticus 11:10-19 - (6) "But anything in the seas or the rivers that has not fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is an abomination to you. They shall remain an abomination to you; of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall have in abomination. Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is an abomination to you."

Eating shrimp and clams..is an abomination but I see ya'll LOVE Red Lobster though. So is it alright to pick and choose which abomination you'll commit today? "Today I think I'll eat some shrimp, get in a fight, cheat on my significant other AND lie to my boss about why im late". OH but you,, you homosexuals over there you're committing and abomination and you can't get married. Think I'll strip you of your rights while I go on abominating all over the place.

Interesting Research:
Research done by both D.F Swabb and Laura Allen in 1990 Compared gay and straight brains, finding differences in the hypothalamus. Simon Levay in 1991 discovered that the hypothalamus in gay men is twice as large as a straight man's YET the same size as a straight woman's. That’s #foodforthought.
It is also speculated that something scientifically goes wrong with which pheromones men or women are attracted to resulting in homosexuality. Also Psychology states that during the psychosexual stages of development, the Oedipal/Elektra complex is flipped therefore resulting in homosexual development (i.e the male child does not "desire his mother" as he is expected to and desires instead his father")
With these explanations of homosexual and many more biological ones (Dean Hamer's studies in 1993 showed that Genes in men may predispose them to homosexuality on the X chromosome) I am left to question how many believe that homosexuals CHOOSE to be the way they are. People don't normally CHOOSE to be ridiculed, discriminated against and targeted for hate crimes and language.
With that said we can assume that homosexuals are indeed gonna be gay, its who they are. Now...It is an abomination to cross dress (this includes women wearing pants!) hmm.. therefore its an abomination to pretend to be someone you are not. So American society forcing homosexual's to feign straightness, and remain in the closet sounds like pretending to be someone you aren’t. The injustice that is served upon homosexuals=abomination as well.
Or how about the Love of Money? Since America is a capitalist society it is safe to assume we all love money. Everything that is done is done with intent to gain profit. America, a country all for the separation of church and state, built on abominations yet still trying to pass legislation in accordance to religion makes them the biggest hypocrite to date.
Of course the repeal of Prop 8 is only one small step towards true equality. But all movements must start somewhere small...before they can make their long lasting impact.
